Most Rev. Dr. Peter Celestine, OFM Cap., the President of Diocese of Jammu Srinagar Education Society (Regd.) and the Bishop of Jammu Srinagar Diocese has taken seriously the conduct of examination (Higher Secondary Part One / Class 11) by Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Good Friday (April 02, 2010) between 02:00 pm and 05:00 pm. The whole world mourns the redeeming death of Lord Jesus Christ on the Good Friday and Christians all over the world offer special prayers and liturgies around 3 o'clock in the afternoon - the time of Lord Jesus' death. Good Friday is a gazetted holiday in the Indian Union and also in the district of Jammu. Due to the conduct of the board exam on this important and mourning day, many of the priests and religious who are supposed to lead the liturgies and prayers will be forced to sit in the schools as they are centre-incharges and the Christian students of class XI, though less in number, will be forced to take their examination on such a significant day and time, he observed. Taking serious note of all the above, the reverend bishop condemns in strongest words the insensitivity of the JKBOSE. The arrangement by the JKBOSE is a serious blow to the Christian Minorities in J & K. We, the Christian Minorities in the State are hurt by the thoughtless act of JKBOSE. The bishop will write to the National Minority Commission - India, the Hon'ble Governer and the Hon'ble Chief Minister and the JKBOSE authorities. |
