Jammu Srinagar Diocese
Formation
Inspite of the climatic and 'border problems' Jammu and Kashmir is one of the promising and challenging missions of our country. Due to lack of committed missionaries and financial resources, the diocese is very much slow in reaching out to different regions of the state. However, we have managed to begin stations in most difficult places like Leh in Ladakh, Baramullah in Kashmir, Poonch, Udhampur, Billawar, Kathua, R. S. Pura, Kaleeth, Akhnoor etc., to name a few.
In spite of the limited number of missionaries (34 diocesan priests, 16 religious priests and 180 religious sisters) we are trying to reach out to many more remote areas and proclaim the Gospel by way of education, health care, upliftment of the socially marginalized etc.
We are consoled that many young and dedicated youth are coming forward to become missionaries in the most challenging, dangerous but promising region of our country.
Now we are really facing an acute problem in finding enough financial resources to start new missions, to open centres of education and health care above all to give seminary formation to our candidates. Our resources are very meager and the needs are very many.
As we are in jubilee year 2000 and God has blessed you in various ways, will you support us with your ardent prayers and a little sacrifice of offering some financial assistance to educate a seminarist for priesthood?
To enter into a partnership in building up the church in Jammu & Kashmir:
You could pledge financial support of educating a candidate for entire formation by donating a sum of rupees 2,00000 (two lacks only; USD: 5000) this would meet the expense of 10 Years? Priestly training in the seminary.
You could share a part of the expenditure for the minor seminary: Rs.60,000/- (rupees sixty thousand only; USD : 1500) for three years.
For a period of one year: Rs. 20,000/- (USD : 500)
It is also possible to set up a memorial bourse in remembrance of a loved one for the education of a seminarian.
OR
Whatever small or big amount you could spare for this noble cause.
Our humble appeal to each one of you is to share the responsibility of reaching Christ?s message to the entire diocese of Jammu-Srinagar by your prayers and good will.
The seminarian who is chosen for your support would remain in touch with you, so that you have the satisfaction to know what stage of formation he is in. May we suggest that you tell your neighbors about this partnership possibility?
