Jammu Srinagar Diocese
Pastoral Message

We began the Silver Jubilee Year of the Diocese in November 2010  and we have been thanking God and praying for all those who are related to our mission in Jammu and Kashmir. We are very close to the concluding celebration of 25 years of the Diocese. It is a great event in the life of the Diocese though Jammu and Kashmir Mission is very old. I am glad to see lots of works that are going on in preparation to celebrate the Jubilee  meaningfully. Giving importance to the spiritual preparation more than material preparation, we have had retreat for priests, retreat organized for the sisters by CRI, renewal programmes for the laity during this Jubilee Year.
Spiritual convention scheduled to be held in September 2011, will certainly help people in their spiritual life and growth. I request you to encourage more and more people to participate in the convention and benefit from it. Encourage all the Catholics to come for  the Jubilee Celebration on October 02, 2011 at St. Peter’s Higher  Secondary School, Karan Bagh.
In this Jubilee Year, may all of us be blessed with God’s choicest blessings. And may this year be a year of renewed commitment, increased zeal and enthusiasm for the spread of the message of Christ in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
I will be out of the country from August 22 to September 26 , 2011 for my Ad Limina Visit, Conference of the Capuchin Bishops  and visit to a few European Countries. I seek your prayer for my trip that it may be fruitful. During my absence from the Diocese, Fr. Varkey Thenganakunnel, the Vicar General of the Diocese  will be the in-charge of the Diocese.
May God bless you all.
